Building Your Safety & Health Program

A Safety & Health program is a definite plan of action designed to prevent injuries and occupational illnesses. Injuries and illnesses have severe impact on the operational costs of a business, but also influence the Workers Compensation premiums that an employer pays. A written Safety & Health Program is required under the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act W210 for all provincially regulated employers with 20 or more workers, who are regularly employed. Having an effective program not only meets legal requirements, but demonstrates commitment to leadership, sets out clear responsibilities within your organization, and can dramatically reduce costs. This workshop will summarize the 11 basic elements that must be included in the program, and discuss ways to communicate your program effectively throughout your organization. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of Workplace Safety & Health Act W210, plus a resource guide (tool kit) to assist you on building your program. This workshop is geared towards Business Owners, Managers, Safety Representatives/Committee members or anybody who holds an interest, or has a responsibility in the development of a Workplace Safety and Health Program.
