Responsible for creating the future vision for one of Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada’s most prized treasures, Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) is the not-for-profit organization that oversees Assiniboine Park’s operations and ensures its ongoing financial viability. Our team is inspired to create and deliver outstanding experiences for the people who visit and use the Park including building friendly, supportive, effective relationships with stakeholders, community and the general public.
Assiniboine Park is undertaking extensive renovations and additions to the guest services in the Park including the Zoo so as to become a world class destination servicing the residents of Manitoba and globally. The food and beverage offerings throughout the Park are an important component to the overall guest experience and in creating great memories.
The Qualico Family Centre (QFC) nestled in the heart of the Park by the Duck Pond, is one of the new additions to the Park which opened in November 2011. The facility features a restaurant for 110 persons open daily, a banquet facility for up to 250 persons and an activity centre. We now have an opportunity available for a Banquet Manager reporting to the Director, Park Services this position will be primarily responsible for the coordination and supervision of assigned events. This position will also be responsible for arranging the completion of events details while maintaining profitable operations with quality products and service levels. The Banquet Manager will be the liaison between the client and our Events team to ensure successful events generating repeat business. This successful incumbent will be expected to model, coach and lead by example for all QFC employees.
This dynamic candidate will have a diploma or equivalent in Hotel and Restaurant Management combined with a minimum of three years supervisory experience in a hospitality environment. This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to operate independently and be proactive, meet high demands and work under time sensitive deadlines. The Banquet Manager must be proficient in the use and operation of audio visual equipment and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook and Point of Sale systems. Previous experience using Event Pro will be considered an asset when applying for this position.
The above position requires an individual who embodies customer service excellence and can transform the ordinary experience for our guests into the extraordinary. Schedules for this position may change due to last minute events, the incumbent must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings and most weekends. The incumbent will be subject to a Criminal Record Check.
