Safety Committee/ Representative Basics
Location: MTEC Learning Centre, 1534 Gamble Place, Winnipeg
Date: February 7, 2012 at 8:30am-12:00pm
In Manitoba provincially regulated workplaces with more than 20 employees are required by law to have a functioning Safety & Health Committee. For workplaces where there are between 10-19 employees, a worker safety representative must be designated. As of Feb 2011, new legislation states “all safety committee members must receive adequate training so that they understand their roles and responsibilities and so they are equipped to aid in the development and implementation of a workplace safety and health program.”
This workshop will help participants understand legal requirements of committees, provide them with the tools and have a basic understanding of the duties and functions of an effective Safety Committee.
This workshop is geared towards safety committee members, safety representatives or anybody with a general interest in safety committees and its functions.
